This is Garrett’s first season racing the Ninja ZX-10RR, although he is a seasoned WorldSBK campaigner in his own right. He approaches this particular race weekend at his team’s home track with the advantage of having tested at Misano between 27-28 June.
That test on the generally flat 4.226km Misano layout was a useful one for both rider and team, allowing them to try out settings and components that cannot be evaluated within the constraints of a normal race weekend.
With the test taking place at Misano and often featuring warm weather conditions it also allowed both rider and team to make direct preparations for the upcoming race weekend.
The completion of the Misano round will mark the end of the first half of the season. Gerloff is currently 17th in the championship standings, with a personal best race finish of tenth. That result was earned at the most recent round in Czechia. Garrett also secured his best pre-race Superpole Qualifying result of eighth at that Autodrom Most event.
Garrett Gerloff stated: “I’m happy to compete at Misano. I like the track and the atmosphere here in Italy. In the recent tests at this same track we were able to improve our Ninja and find a setup from which to start this coming weekend. It will be important to do well here because this is a home round for our team, and we can count on the support of our fans and the attendance of many of our sponsors.”
